If you love wine but feel like you don’t know much about it, WTFLA‘s Wine Tasting Crash Course is the perfect place to start. This course covers the basics of both winemaking and wine tasting. Starting on June 5th, WTFLA will have a monthly happy hour at City Sip in Echo Park!

On the first Saturday of every month, we’ll be taking over the bar AND the music while the ever-awesome City Sip brings the 1/2 price wine specials at the bar from 5-7pm. We will be reaping the monthly benefits as City Sip shows off some of their most exciting, independent, quirky, rare, and just plain weird wine offerings (Bull’s Blood, anyone?) that they’ll be hand-picking just for WTFLA folks.

Join WTFLA as we kick off a summer of FREE EVENTS by throwing an after-party bash for Byron and Cambria wineries on Tuesday, May 18th on the rooftop of Hotel Erwin in Venice!

The winemakers for both of these awesome Santa Maria-based Pinot Noir producers (um, one of Cambria’s Pinots was the #1 wine of 2009 according to Wine Enthusiast magazine) are coming to town to work all day pouring wine at a professional wine event (it’s a tough life) and have asked WTFLA to throw their after party.  We’ll be doing it up right at the rooftop bar at Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach. Join us for complimentary wine tastings from each winery and hang out with winemakers Denise Shurtleff of Cambria and Jonathan Nagy of Byron.

Oh, and did we mention it costs NOTHING? Because it does. We know. Zero dollars for wine tastings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Santa Maria Bench – it’s nuts.

As usual, there’s nothing normal or formal about this tasting. Stop by anytime between 7pm-9pm for the wine tasting, or come by after to hang with the winemakers. There is a limited capacity and no list, so this is first come first swerve, like always.
