DO I HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT WINE TO GO TO A TASTING?

Nope. If you want to learn about it, we're there to drop some knowledge. Ask any sommelier, the best way to learn about wine is to drink it. So you'll be learning no matter what. So there. Wait. What was the question?

JUST HOW FANCY ARE THESE WINE TASTINGS YOU SPEAK OF?

Glad you asked, Prototypical Question Asker! They are not fancy at all. WTFLA's wine tasting style could be described as "Nothing Normal, Nothing Formal."

DO I HAVE TO GET THERE AT A SPECIFIC TIME?

No, you can arrive whenever you want. WTFLA tastings are not "guided tastings." We do not collect people into a room, pour them wine, demand silence, then tell these huddled masses what they are tasting (lather, rinse, repeat). You can arrive at any time and taste the wines for yourself at your own speed.

SO WHAT ARE WTFLA WINE TASTINGS LIKE?

Arrive whenever you want. Because the members-only free tastings are super popular, many folks choose to arrive early and wait in line. A WTFLA volunteer will check you in and check your ID, then you're off to the races. You'll grab a glass that you'll use for the entire tasting, then head to the first wine. Most often, there are separate pouring tables for each wine - we set up a recommended tasting order, but you're free to taste in whichever order you like, and as quickly or slowly as you like.

When each glass is poured, an expert will tell you a bit about the wine, what to look for, what they like about it, and can answer any questions you have. At most tastings, the actual winemaker will be there for this. 

When you're done, feel free to support the fine establishment that let us host our crazy tasting by getting some nosh, a glass of wine, and continue hanging out. 

IF I RSVP TO A FREE TASTING, AM I GUARANTEED A SPOT?

Our free tastings are ridiculously popular, which makes us happy. Because of this, we have RSVPs for each event to control the amount of people that come by. Most RSVP lists are full within 24 hours of announcing. However, because it's a free event in LA, not everyone that RSVPs shows up - which makes us sad. So through the years we've realized it's best to account for the flakes (no offense) by RSVPing a larger group. So TECHNICALLY, free events are first-come, first-serve from the RSVP list... but we've never had to turn people away while we've had the system in place. 

SO, THESE TASTINGS ARE SERIOUSLY FREE?

Yep. If they say "Free," they are for real free.

DO YOU LIKE SELL MY EMAIL INFO TO THIRD PARTIES OR SOMETHING?

Nope. Your email info is used for WTFLA membership and that's it. We don't "rent" your email either.
